American Sewing Guild
Nashville CHapter
The American Sewing Guild (ASG) is a national organization for sewing enthusiasts. The ASG Mission Statement is "Advancing Sewing as an Art and Life Skill."
After attending the ASG Annual Conference held in Nashville in 2005, Loretta Gjeltema formed the chapter and served as its first president. Lianne McConnell followed Loretta as president. Vivian Lavinskas was president when the Nashville Chapter received official recognition as a chapter of the American Sewing Guild in 2007. Rita Johnson served as president from 2012 to 2015, followed by Mary Elliott, from 2016 to 2019. Janet McCabe assumed the president's role in January 2020.
Meetings are generally held on the second Saturday of each month. Interests among members range from garment sewing, quilting, children's sewing, fabric manipulation, and more. Our meetings are as varied as the members' interests. We have charity sews, local and national teachers, and even a fashion show featuring members' creations. We host 2 sewing retreats each year.
Please visit the ASG webpage for information about joining ASG. Please select Nashville as your chapter.
